For the past 100 years, our association has been committed to furthering the cultural and economic exchange between Switzerland and the United States of America through events and scholarship contributions.

the first President of the United States, George Washington, once said. We have been caring for and nurturing this plant since 1920 - our association is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

We have helped promote and strengthen the amicable relationship between Switzerland and the USA, both culturally and economically. Our association was founded under the name “Swiss Friends of the USA” (SFUSA). Since 2007, we are known as the “Swiss-American Society”.

WHAT WE DO

Events with presentations from top-class speakers are our most important platform for exchange. Once a month, we have a luncheon at the centrally-located “Haus zum Rüden” on Zurich’s Limmatquai to discuss current issues concerning trade, industry, technology, politics, culture and science. Our other very important commitment is awarding various scholarships for academic stays in the USA. In this way, we not only promote academic and professional careers, but also facilitate unique, intercultural experiences and new friendships across continents.

THE BOARD OF THE SWISS-AMERICAN SOCIETY

The Board of Directors consists of eight to fourteen elected members, who work and perform various tasks on a voluntary basis. The different functions are described in our charter. The current president of the Swiss-American Society is Thierry de Sépibus.

MEMBERS

SAS is an association consisting of several hundred members such as private individuals from Switzerland and the USA, companies and associations, who value a good relationship between both countries. We are always happy to welcome new members with an interest and involvement in Swiss-USA relationships. How to become a member
